Kota Kinabalu: A diver was charged with molesting a woman in the Magistrate Court, Wednesday.

Mohd Ernizam Mohd Yasin, 31, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to allegedly committing the offence n Dec 23, 2023, on 12.57pm, at a quarters in Tanjong Aru.

The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to 10 years, or with a fine or with whipping, or with any two of such punishments, on conviction.

Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik in applying for a mention date, proposed bail at RM4,000 and two local sureties.

The charge, under Section 448 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to three years or a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, on conviction.

Kelvan proposed bail at RM4,000 with two local sureties. However, Lim requested a lenient bail amount.

The court released Afifi on bail of RM1,500 with two local sureties and set pre-trial case management on Feb 7.
