SHAH ALAM – The Special Educational Needs Pupils Allowance will rise from RM150 to RM200 a month, benefiting 150,000 pupils, including those with autism.

The Special Educational Needs Teaching Incentive will also be increased, from RM250 to RM300 a month, for 20,000 special education teachers.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the increases while tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, today.

He said the government is also putting more into early childhood development facilities nationwide.

"Two Permata Kurnia centres will be built in Melaka and Pahang to offer specialised education, support and training for autistic children.

“More than 130 new Tunas Istimewa kindergarten classes will also open in rural areas," he said.

This, the Prime Minister said will give autistic children from low-income families earlier, more effective guidance and better access to essential learning resources.
