TAWAU: A 35-year-old motorcyclist suffered a fractured pinky finger after colliding with a sedan at Batu 8, Jalan Apas around 11.30am, Saturday.
The impact of the crash caused the rider to be thrown over the car before landing on the road divider.
A Daily Express reporter who witnessed the incident quickly alerted police and emergency services, as the rider appeared weak and in need of urgent medical attention.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the motorcyclist was riding straight in the right lane heading from town towards Balung Cocos, while the 53-year-old car driver was attempting a U-turn from the left road shoulder near a junction.
The accident occurred when the Nissan Almera driver crossed into the path of the Yamaha LC motorcycle, which was on the main road. The driver was unharmed.
“We urge road users to be cautious and always give way to vehicles on the main road before making U-turns,” Jasmin advised.
