PENAMPANG: A 32-year-old motorcyclist died in a road accident early this morning at Jalan Pintas Penampang near the Datuk Peter Mojuntin roundabout.
Initial police findings showed that the motorcycle was hit by a four-wheel drive coming from Plaza 333 and heading towards Kota Kinabalu at about 12.50am.
The impact caused the motorcycle to skid about 30 metres, throwing the rider into a roadside construction drain.
A medical officer confirmed the rider had died at the scene, and the body was later taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem.
Police said the driver and passenger of the four-wheel drive were unharmed, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving
