KUALA LUMPUR: Two participants in the 2026 Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon (SCKLM) were injured after being hit by a motorcycle which entered the running lane on Jalan Munshi Abdullah here today.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the victims in the incident, which occurred at about 6.15 am, were a 50-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man.
He said preliminary investigations found that the motorcycle, ridden by a 21-year-old man with a 19-year-old pillion rider, had entered the lane that was closed with cones for the running event.
“The motorcyclist was ordered to stop by police personnel controlling the road closure, but is believed to have fled by riding against the flow of traffic before hitting the two runners,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Zamzuri said an initial alcohol screening of the motorcycle rider returned a positive result, with an Evidential Breath Analyser reading of 164 milligrammes per 100 millilitres.
He said the rider and pillion rider were subsequently taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for blood and urine samples to assist in further investigations.
The motorcycle rider was remanded for three days from today until Oct 5, while the pillion rider was remanded for two days until Oct 4.
The case is being investigated under Section 44(1A)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 186 of the Penal Code.
