
DAV College Hoshiarpur celebrated its centenary year with great enthusiasm and pride, marking 100 years of excellence in education, culture and social service. Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur attended the event as the chief guest, while Punjab Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh Dhanna was the guest of honour.
The function was organised under the guidance of DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC) president Dr Anoop Kumar, secretary RM Bhalla and principal Prof (Dr) Vinay Kumar. Several distinguished guests, including former Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna, former Punjab Minister Tikshan Sud, DAV institution principals, teachers and members of DAVCMC and DAV College Hoshiarpur Society were also present.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana. In his welcome address, DAVCMC president Dr Anoop Kumar said, “The centenary celebration is not just an event but a celebration of a glorious journey. The seed planted in 1926 has grown into a mighty tree that continues to spread the light of education and values. We remain grateful to all stakeholders whose collective efforts have helped the institution reach this milestone.”
A documentary highlighting the college’s rich history and contributions of former leaders and workers was screened during the event. Colourful cultural performances, including giddha, bhangra, group songs and solo performances, added charm to the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Anurag Thakur said, “Institutions are living monuments under whose shadow the destinies of students are written. DAV institutions have made an exceptional contribution to India’s education system and nation-building. DAV College Hoshiarpur has proved that it is not only a centre of learning but also a strong platform for ideas, culture and social development.”
During the ceremony, Anurag Thakur laid the foundation stone of the proposed centenary block. The chief guest and special guest also released the college annual magazine, Arya Kumar. Guests were honoured with mementoes and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
