Muntinlupa honors fathers through fun run

MUNTINLUPA City celebrates Father’s Day through the Takbo Tatay Takbo 2026 fun run, using the event to promote responsible fatherhood and encourage fathers to prioritize their health.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon said on Saturday that the activity carried two key messages for fathers — awareness of their role in their families and advocacy for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Biazon said the celebration was meant to remind fathers that their responsibility goes beyond the occasion, as they serve as protectors, leaders and contributors to their families and communities.

“Father’s Day should not only be celebrated for the sake of celebrating it. If we say we are celebrating Father’s Day, it should have meaning,” Biazon said.

He urged fathers in Muntinlupa to continue being responsible figures in their homes and communities by fulfilling their roles as family leaders.

The mayor also highlighted the importance of health among fathers, saying they need to take care of themselves so they can continue supporting their families and contributing to society.

“Health advocacy is for our fellow citizens, especially fathers. Because we are the fathers of our homes, it is important that we ourselves are healthy so we can fulfill our responsibilities,” Biazon said.

Biazon reminded participants that staying healthy is part of being a responsible father, encouraging them to maintain an active lifestyle and look after their well-being.

During the fun run, he also reminded participants to listen to their bodies, hydrate and take their time to avoid health risks while joining the activity.

The Takbo Tatay Takbo 2026 featured 5K and 10K race categories, with routes passing through key areas in Muntinlupa before returning to the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Putatan, where the activity started and ended.

The 5K route passed through areas including Putatan, Muntinlupa City Hall and the Philippine National Police Laguerta area, while the 10K route extended to MCTI, Montillano, Alabang Viaduct and Lakewood before heading back to the sports complex.
