MyKad printing services nationwide will face temporary disruption from 26 to 31 August as the National Registration Department (JPN) transitions from the existing MyKad to a new-generation identity card.
If you were planning to replace or exchange your MyKad during this period, JPN is advising you to postpone it if the matter isn’t urgent.
Parents and guardians applying for a first-time MyKad for children turning 12 are also encouraged to wait.
JPN said waiting could allow children to receive the new-generation MyKad once production begins in the near future.
The department did not provide further details on when production of the new-generation MyKad will begin. It said the temporary disruption is part of the transition process and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
