
A total of 65,793 cases were settled and a sum of Rs 55. 68 crore was awarded during the National Lok Adalat, held across Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
A total of 1,10,260 pre-litigation and pending cases were taken up before 140 benches of various courts during the Lok Adalat, on Saturday.
The Lok Adalats were held under the patronage of Chief Justice Gurrneet Singh Sandhawalia, Patron-in-Chief of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA) and under the guidance of Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Executive Chairman, HPSLSA.
To facilitate ease and convenience for litigants, online payment facility for compounding fees through ePay (eCourts Digital Payment) was also made available, particularly for Motor Vehicles challans/cases in the courts of Traffic Magistrates.
Awareness campaigns were undertaken to inform the general public and litigants about the benefits of the National Lok Adalat.
Publicity was carried out through SMS alerts, jingles, distribution of IEC material and by associating local bodies, stakeholders, NGOs, representatives of panchayati raj institutions, para legal volunteers and newspapers, ensuring wide outreach across the state.
