Negeri Sembilan will implement a two-day WFH scheme for over 3,000 state civil servants from April 15, with mandatory office days on Monday and Friday.
SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan government will implement a two-day-per-week work-from-home arrangement for more than 3,000 state civil servants starting April 15.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the policy, aligned with a federal government directive, applies to staff whose one-way commute exceeds eight kilometres from home to office.
Eligible employees can work from home on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday as determined by their respective heads of department.
He stated that the arrangement covers all departments and agencies under the state administration, particularly in management and administrative sectors.
“For operational sectors involving technical roles, including engineers, assistant engineers, village heads and enforcement officers, WFH will be implemented on a rotation basis to ensure at least 50% of staff are on duty in the field or office on any working day,” he said after chairing the state executive council meeting.
Aminuddin clarified that WFH approval for heads of departments and officers in the management and professional group is not automatic and must be reviewed and approved by the state secretary.
He added that attendance will be monitored electronically via the SPOT-Me system or Google Live Location to ensure effective implementation.
“The arrangement will also be extended to local authorities and state statutory bodies, subject to acceptance by the respective agencies,” he said.
He said eligible civil servants are given the flexibility to opt for WFH or continue working fully from the office.
The Menteri Besar noted that the arrangement may be withdrawn at any time if work quality is not maintained.
He confirmed the policy does not apply to officers in critical sectors such as defence and security, healthcare, and education involving school sessions.
