The direct rail service between Copenhagen and Prague, launched at the beginning of May, will be suspended for four weeks during the peak holiday season due to construction work.
Rail authorities told dpa on Friday that engineering works at the Hamburg rail hub mean passengers will have to make at least one change between July 18 and August 15.
As there is also occasional construction work on the Danish side, on some days only services involving replacement buses and more transfers will be available between Hamburg and Copenhagen.
The new direct service from Prague to Copenhagen is of significance to Deutsche Bahn and its partners in the Czech Republic and Denmark. The new connection was the first of a total of 10 pilot projects supported by the European Commission to promote cross-border rail connections.
Since June 14, two daily return services have operated on the route, alongside a seasonal overnight train. The journey between Copenhagen and Prague takes around 11 hours.
