Kota Kinabalu: A new political movement has emerged in Sabah with the formation of Parti Gemilang Sabah (PGS), following a split from Parti Gemilang Anak Sabah (GAS).

Founder and Protem President Datuk Jismit Japong (pic) said he and 52 GAS Supreme Council members decided to break away due to unresolved leadership issues within the party.

He said the movement, branded as the Gemilang Sabah Group until PGS is formally registered, will contest the 17th State Election by fielding independent candidates under its banner.

According to Jismit, the group plans to contest all 55 state seats, with candidates allocated equally among veterans, youths, and women, who must also present five-year master plans for their constituencies.

He added that an application to register the new party will be submitted to the Registrar of Societies on Monday, while reaffirming their agenda to continue championing justice and defending Sabahans’ rights.
