Newborn baby becomes university’s youngest-ever graduation guest hours after birth

A newborn baby became Abertay University’s youngest-ever graduation guest after attending his mother’s ceremony just hours after being born.

Clare Hart, 40, had worried she would miss her graduation on 10 July after her due date of 3 July passed without incident.

But the new graduate felt well enough to attend the event after her son, Sol MacIntosh Hart-Gordon, was born at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee at 5.15pm the evening prior, weighing 6lb 11oz.

Ms Hart expressed her delight at being able to graduate with a First-Class Honours Degree in BSc (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Health.

She said: " He supported me through the final leg of my degree, through the most challenging part in the dissertation and what that, so I'm just overjoyed that we both made it here today."
