Newcastle United are refusing to drop their pursuit of Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

Everton have insisted Gordon is not for sale and are planning new contract talks.

But Chronicle Live says Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth and his opposite number Kevin Thelwell at Goodison have discussed figures on Gordon and what it might take for the deal to be pulled off.

Yet Everton have already snubbed a big offer for the midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur and don't want to lose another star like they did when Richarlison joined the North London club for £60million last week.

An agreement for Gordon is still some way off, but on Tyneside there is a confidence of a deal being reached given Ashworth's influence.
