Newcastle defender Sven Botman was impressed by Alex Murphy for victory over Fiorentina.
Newcastle won 2-0 at St James' Park for Saturday's preseason clash.
Murphy impressed alongside Botman and the Dutchman said: "Alex is getting better every day and he is training well.
"Against Fiorentina he proved again he is on the right track and he has to continue like this then see what happens."
On Sandro Tonali's performance, he added: "He is a quality player, he is still adapting so he will get better and better. Sandro is a top player for us."
