KOTA TINGGI – A newlywed couple turned their wedding day into an unforgettable occasion after heading straight from their solemnisation ceremony to cast their ballots in the Johor state election, drawing attention from fellow voters at a polling station on Saturday.
Fifi Nur Khairin Tamrin, 24, and her husband, Muhammad Arif Fahmi Nor Azli, 28, arrived at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) LKTP Sungai Sayong shortly after exchanging their marriage vows, fulfilling their civic duty before continuing with their wedding celebrations.
Fifi said the couple had set their wedding date in August last year and had no idea it would coincide with polling day for the Johor state election.
She said they were officially married at about 9am before making their way to the polling station around an hour later.

"At first, I was quite upset because I was worried the ceremony would not be able to go ahead, but we decided to stick to our plans. It was a little hectic because after the solemnisation ceremony we only had time to take a few photos before heading straight to vote.
"The important thing is that, as citizens, we need to fulfil our responsibility and choose the best leaders," she said.
Fifi said voting in her ivory-white wedding attire made the experience even more memorable.
"I was a little embarrassed because so many people were looking at us, but it is not an experience you get to go through often.
"This is a truly historic moment. I will remember it forever because I was able to fulfil my responsibility as a voter on my own wedding day," she said.
