KLUANG – A newlywed couple are making voting part of their wedding day, proving that their wedding celebrations did not stop them from fulfilling their civic duty in the Johor state election.
Dressed in matching red songket wedding attire, Nurul Aida Mohd Kamal, 25, and Raja Akmal Hakim Raja Abdul Rahim, 25, drew attention when they arrived at the polling centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Ayer Hitam.
Earlier, the couple briefly left their wedding reception at Dewan Serbaguna Felda Ayer Hitam at 12.30pm to cast their ballots at the polling centre, located about 100 metres away.

Sharing her experience, Nurul Aida said she and her husband had not expected the date they chose for their wedding to coincide with polling day for the Johor state election.
“It was definitely exciting and today will become a memorable part of our lives because our wedding day and polling day fall on the same day.
“So, I have fulfilled my responsibility (to vote). Even though we were busy, I still made sure to carry out my responsibility,” she said.
Meanwhile, Akmal said he would cast his vote after the wedding reception at Dewan Orang Ramai Ayer Hitam.
