Nga Kor Ming calls on political leaders to uphold national unity and avoid exploiting racial and religious differences
PUTRAJAYA: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has called on political leaders to uphold the values of moderation, mutual respect and national unity.
He said responsible leadership should focus on bringing Malaysians together rather than exploiting racial and religious differences for political gain.
“Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity, where people of different races, religions and backgrounds have lived side by side in harmony for generations, collectively contributing to the nation’s progress and prosperity. This must be respected by all.
“Good leaders build bridges and foster common ground, not division. Leadership is about uniting people around shared aspirations, not dividing them along racial or religious lines,” he said in a statement today.
Nga, who is also DAP deputy national chairman, said any attempt to manipulate racial sentiments, spread fear or sow distrust among communities was detrimental to national unity and undermined the spirit of togetherness that has long been the foundation of Malaysia’s success.
He said Malaysians today are more concerned about issues that directly affect their daily lives, including affordable housing, economic opportunities, quality public services, infrastructure development and a better future for their children.
“People want solutions, not division. They want leaders who can deliver results, create opportunities and improve their quality of life.
“Politics based on hatred and racial provocation has no place in a progressive and forward-looking Malaysia,” he added.
Nga also urged Malaysians to exercise wisdom and reject those who seek to gain political mileage by creating division and manipulating racial sentiments.
“Malaysia’s future should not be determined by those who seek to divide us. It should be shaped by leaders who inspire hope, promote understanding and unite Malaysians of all races,” he said.
