Boca Juniors midfielder Daniele De Rossi is set for a sensational recall to the Italy squad.
Sky Italia says the former Roma captain has been included in the pre-selection list by Italy coach Roberto Mancini.
Italy will play the next qualifying games for Euro 2020 against Greece (12 October) and Liechtenstein (15). The Greece match will be staged at Roma's Olimpico.
De Rossi moved to Boca over the summer after Roma refused to extend his contract.
His last appearance with Italy was in 2018 for the failed World Cup playoff against Sweden.
