
RANAU: Nine individuals managed to save themselves after their vehicle was hit by a tree that suddenly fell near, here, on Tuesday evening.
Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib, said the incident happened by the road near the Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan 1, Ranau at about 5.30pm.
“An alert was received via the MERS999 line at 5.56pm saying that a tree had fallen hitting several cars.
“Acting on information, we rushed a group of seven personnel together with an FRT truck engine and an EMRS van, led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Becket Gumat to the location.

Read more “Arriving at the scene of the incident, about 2km from the Fire Station, we found a tree that fell on a Perodua Kancil, Proton Saga and Perodua Axia,” he said.
According to Ridwan, the incident caused damage to the top part of the vehicles as well as telecommunication poles and cables. He added that there were nine victims who were but safe and unhurt despite suffering a mild scare.
“The fire brigade cut the tree using a chain saw and moved it to a safe area. The operation ended at 7.18pm,” he said.
