Former United States men’s national team player Clint Dempsey has been so impressed with the American fans at the 2026 World Cup.

Everyone knows that soccer is not on the same level as American football and basketball (and maybe baseball) in the United States.

However, the USA have definitely caught ‘World Cup fever’ over the last few weeks, with so many games to enjoy.

In addition to welcoming the best players and teams from around the world, American fans have also been excited by Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Many believe the USMNT have gone from outsiders to reach the quarter-finals to contenders to win the World Cup.

Home advantage has played a major role in their success so far, with the atmosphere in Los Angeles and Seattle off the charts.

Clint Dempsey believes USMNT support has reached a new level at the World Cup

The USA always receive plenty of support in every sporting competition, but the World Cup has been a totally new experience.

The atmosphere at Lumen Field, in particular, for the USMNT’s 2-0 victory over Australia last weekend, was incredible, to say the least.

Clint Dempsey, who earned more than 140 international caps, has claimed that he had never seen anything like it before.

“I don’t know if I’ve seen too many like that,” he told Men in Blazers. “It’s truly special to see what we’re witnessing. But what I will say about the Pacific Northwest is they always show up and show out in rain, sleet, or snow.

“They are fans that support their teams through thick and thin. Things that come to mind, the quarterfinal game that we played there in the Copa America, they had that place rocking.

“But I just think it’s on another level now because of the importance of the World Cup and how much it means to everybody in the States, and in terms of moving the game to another level.”

The USA players and coaching staff deserve huge credit, as their performances have played a key role in the atmosphere.

Having beaten Paraguay and Australia convincingly, the Americans are starting to believe that the impossible (winning the World Cup) is now possible.

Even though that remains highly unlikely, it is this illogical belief that makes the World Cup so special; just ask England fans.
