One passenger was killed and 10 others sustained injuries after a sleeper bus travelling from Chandigarh to Rajasthan overturned near Ghagga in Patiala district on Friday.
According to information, residents of the nearby areas rushed to the accident site after hearing a loud sound following the mishap. They along with police and emergency teams, helped rescue passengers trapped inside the overturned bus.
The injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The identity of the deceased was not yet known.
The police said the exact cause of the accident was being investigated while inquest proceedings had been initiated into the incident.
