ONLY one senior student scolded Zara Qairina Mahathir during a confrontation involving several seniors at a hostel dormitory, the Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday.
Investigating Officer Inspector Wong Yew Zhung said this was what he established from his investigation into the incident on the night before Zara was found unconscious on the hostel grounds.
The 83rd witness was responding to questions from counsel Shahlan Jufri, who asked about the treatment Zara received during the confrontation.
Wong confirmed that Zara was crying after being accused of stealing, although he could not recall whether all witnesses had agreed that she was crying during the incident.
Wong also told Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan that he was aware of only the initial two stages of five internal investigations conducted by the school’s disciplinary unit.
He said these referred to the internal investigations conducted on July 17 or 18, 2025, adding that he became aware of them after receiving five statements from senior students.
He also said Cingular Azhari had informed him about the investigations.
On Nov 27, 2025, an assistant chief discipline teacher testified that the school had conducted five internal investigations into Zara’s case but had not informed the police about them.
Nurul Syahadah Ibrahim said the investigations were conducted on July 16, July 17, Aug 4, Aug 5 and Aug 13, 2025.
