Kota Kinabalu: The inquest into the death of 13-year-old student Zara Qairina Mahathir has concluded after 96 days of proceedings, with the Coroner's Court set to receive submissions.

Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan fixed Friday for directions on submissions following the testimony of the final witness, investigating officer Inspector Wong Yew Zhun, on Wednesday.

The court heard evidence from a total of 83 witnesses, including medical specialists, forensic experts, teachers, students, police officers, and family members, since proceedings commenced on Sept 3, 2025.

Amir said the grounds of judgment would be delivered in Bahasa Malaysia to ensure the findings are easily understood by the public.

Zara was found unconscious beneath her school hostel building in Papar on July 16, 2025, and died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital the following day.
