The under-construction All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari will prove to be a milestone for Haryana’s healthcare services and may open its Outpatient Department (OPD) services by July.
Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao stated this while disclosing that the Union Ministry of Health has approved 50 MBBS seats for the institute, enabling academic activities to begin within the current year.
The minister highlighted that once operational, Rewari AIIMS will provide advanced healthcare services to people in South Haryana and surrounding regions, while also creating new opportunities for medical education for students.
She said that the Haryana government is also working towards installing solar power plants in all civil hospitals across the state. This initiative will enable hospitals to generate their own electricity, reduce power expenses, and contribute to environmental conservation.
Rewari AIIMS and other upcoming medical institutions in the state will, in the coming years, position Haryana among the leading states in the country in terms of healthcare services and medical education.
She further added that extensive efforts are underway to strengthen medical education and healthcare infrastructure in Haryana. Construction of several new medical colleges is progressing rapidly.
The medical college in Jind is nearly complete and is expected to be handed over this year. Upon receiving necessary approvals from the National Medical Commission (NMC), seat allocation will be finalized, and the admission process will commence.
In addition, the medical college and hospital in Kutail, Karnal district, are in the final stages of construction. Work is also progressing swiftly on medical colleges in Yamunanagar, Kaithal, and Sirsa. Completion of these projects will significantly enhance access to quality healthcare services across various regions of the state, while also expanding the scope of medical education.
The minister stated that the Jind and Kutail medical colleges are expected to be handed over this year, after which the required formalities will be completed and admissions will be opened for students.
