Johor is slowly turning into the perfect political battlefield.
Forget Bersatu for a moment. Forget the noise. Forget the endless press conferences pretending everything is under control.
Reality is, Bersatu is in chaos.
At the same time, Bersama and RESET are still not ready. The machinery is not fully built, the grassroots are not tested, and the public still does not know what they actually stand for besides “not being the old parties.”
And this is exactly why many people inside UMNO are smiling right now.
Because politically, this may be the perfect timing for a Johor state election.
Why?
Simple.
UMNO smells blood.
For the first time in a long time, they can realistically frame Johor as a straight fight between UMNO and PKR.
No complicated multi-corner fights.
No strong third force.
No stable opposition machinery.
Just two giants entering the ring.
And let’s be honest, Johor has always been UMNO territory emotionally. Even when voters were angry, even when support dropped, the roots never truly disappeared.
PKR pula nampak semakin yakin selepas beberapa perkembangan politik kebelakangan ini. They believe the urban and semi urban Malay vote is shifting. They believe younger voters are tired of old UMNO politics.
So what happens if elections are called now?
Simple.
UMNO contests all seats.
PKR contests all seats.
Now THAT would be exciting.
No hiding behind coalition logos.
No “pinjam kerusi.”
No confusing seat negotiations.
Straight fight.
One versus one.
And suddenly Johor becomes the most important political stage in Malaysia.
Can UMNO prove they are still the natural rulers of Johor?
Or can PKR finally break the psychological wall and turn Johor into a true battleground state?
Either way, one thing is certain:
This election will be about UMNO versus PKR.
And honestly?
Malaysia has not seen a political fight this exciting in a very long time.
And yes, before people ask, I’m rooting for UMNO.
