Isn’t that obvious?
After the drubbing in the Sabah elections in Nov 2025, did PH do anything drastic and significant to improve their likeability amongst their supporters and voters in general?
PKR remained silent.
Probably their leaders are still scratching their heads wondering what and who hit them.
The Election Director for PH for both the Sabah and Johor elections is also the Mentri Besar for Selangor.
How could he go down to the grounds and devote himself planning, leading and move the grassroots and volunteer workers for both elections when he has a state to manage?
Where is the Deputy President of PKR in both the elections including the upcoming election in Negeri Sembilan?
Busy with her work as the strategic advisor for the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), where her responsibilities apparently are to guide the state agency on digital empowerment, public policy, and the Selangor IC Design Park or her work at think tank Polity where she is the Executive Chairperson?
The elected and appointed VPs?
All of them have almost zero exposure on social media explaining PH’s policies and strategies as compared to their rivals during the campaigns for the elections in Sabah and Johor.
And it is the same in the campaign for the elections in Negeri Sembilan.
Amanah?
Probably a lot of voters who are neutral are not aware that PH comprised of 3 political parties.
The Johor PH Chairman?
He boldly predicted that voters will back PH in the elections.
The results on 11 July 2026 speaks for itself.
DAP?
Their Secretary-General pledged to work closely with the prime minister to accelerate the reform agenda over the next six months.
DAP’s secretary-general also said the party would give the federal administration a 6 month window to deliver meaningful reforms and a special congress/convention, scheduled for 12 July 2026 would be held to let delegates decide the party's future direction and whether its leaders should remain in government positions.
The party appears to have zero ideas on their campaigns both in Sabah and Johor.
Both in Sabah and repeated again in the elections in Johor, the party still campaign on the topic support us, or the extremists will win.
In the ongoing campaign for the elections in Negeri Sembilan, the party again played the same tune.
In fact, not only DAP but PH itself.
When voters looked around, they did not see extremists.
They are not bothered with the return of BN/UMNO as the ruling government in the states or at Federal level.
They are not concerned about the massive corruption that happened 10, 20, 30 years ago.
They are not concerned nor do they understand that those massive corruption costs the country and its people dearly.
They are not concerned nor do they understand that the massive corruption comes with a cost, a cost that the country has to pay back, yearly, in interests and costs.
They are not concerned nor do they understand that as result, a certain amount of the country’s revenue has to be earmarked every year to pay back those costs incurred, yearly, in interests and costs.
They are not concerned nor do they understand that as result, the country can’t afford to have new developments or continued with its subsidies keeping costs of living down.
The voters in Sabah, Johor and Negeri Sembilan saw local issues, frustrations and continued rising costs of living.
And voters in Sabah and Johor and likely in Negeri Sembilan asked, “Why must we keep saving you when you no longer defend us?”
Of course, voters will walk away.
This was not about being anti-Chinese or pro-ethnic Malay or being wary of religious extremism.
On 24 July, 2026, DAP announced that the special congress now would be held, instead on 16 Aug 2026.
On 1 Aug 2026, Negeri Sembilan would have its state elections.
If BN/UMNO, in partnership with PN wins and take over as the government of Negeri Sembilan on 1 Aug, bells for the 16th GE will immediately ring with BN/UMNO and possibly other political coalitions that are now supporting the Madani government likely to announce that they will be withdrawing support for the Madani government.
If that happens, DAP will give the excuse that since the Madani government will be dissolved for the 16th GE, the special congress will be redundant.
End verdict?
Like voters both in Sabah and Johor, voters in Negeri Sembilan will deliver the same fate to PH.
Would PH be `heart broken'?
Nope.
They have got used to losing in elections anyway.
They are more accustomed to sitting in the Opposition.
