Controversial preacher Zamri Vinoth decided to turn a quiet Bukit Mertajam afternoon into a viral spectacle, proving once and for all that faith, drama, and luxury can go hand in hand.

Weekends are for rest, relaxation… and apparently, for preaching in a Jaguar. Yes, you read that correctly — preaching, in a Jaguar. Because if a preacher can’t convince a potential convert that the afterlife is rewarding, at least the Jaguar makes a pretty compelling argument that salvation comes with perks in this life too.

According to Zamri, he had an “altercation” with two men on a motorcycle and four others on foot while his car was parked. The motorcyclists allegedly threw three rocks at his precious Jaguar, breaking two windows. How dare they? And what does a morally upright, highly spiritual man do when faced with such blatant disrespect for a British luxury car? Apparently, he “ran over” the motorcyclists while driving away. Heroic, or homicidal — the jury is still out.

Zamri shared a 19-second video of the incident on Facebook, in which he proudly narrates the drama for his followers. The clip has gone viral, with reactions ranging from horror to awe — though mostly the latter, if you judge by the number of people secretly bookmarking Jaguar brochures. Because let’s face it: while some people were focused on alleged assault and dangerous driving, most were thinking, “Wait… a preacher in a Jaguar?”

And there it is. The real story isn’t the rocks, the motorcycles, or even the “running over” claim. It’s the car. That unmistakable purr, the leather seats, the kind of alloy rims that make the rest of us question every financial choice we’ve ever made. A Jaguar, in short, is the exact opposite of what most of us imagine a preacher should be driving.

Traditionally, preachers are supposed to live modest lives, right? You know, like charity workers or activists who save tigers, whales, or stray dogs. Noble work. Rewarding work. Spiritually fulfilling work. But lucrative? Hardly.

Apparently, I’ve been living in a fantasy. Because Zamri Vinoth’s weekend clearly demonstrates that preaching can come with perks. Lavish perks. Heated leather seat perks. Cars worth more than the average person earns in a decade perks. Who knew the sermon industry had a Jaguar tier?

Of course, the police had to get involved. Penang police chief Azizee Ismail confirmed that a man in his 20s was detained in Bukit Mertajam following Zamri’s report. The man was being held to assist in investigations under Sections 506 and 427 of the Penal Code — criminal intimidation and mischief causing property damage, if you’re keeping score at home. He was released after a day, presumably with the advice: “Next time, don’t mess with a preacher’s Jaguar.”

Lawyer V Parthipan revealed that his 27-year-old client had voluntarily come forward to assist police and had even filed a report against Zamri for trying to run over the motorcyclists.

And then there’s the political commentary, because no viral video is complete without it. RSN Rayer, the Jelutong MP, asked the tough questions: Was Zamri actually driving the Jaguar? Why was he in Bukit Mertajam when a supposed rally against a temple in the Bukit Mertajam Hospital had been canceled? And most importantly: “If Zamri was the driver of this luxury Jaguar, would he be arrested for driving recklessly and almost killing the motorcyclist he knocked down?”

Now although I can understand the logic of Rayer's question, what I think the question that the public would really like Rayer to be asking, is whether the jag really belongs to Zamri? That is the question that all of us would really like to know ,because we are all desperate to know as to how well does the job of saving souls pay — because if a preacher is also driving a luxury vehicle while saving souls, it certainly looks like god doesn't just reward those who fight for him in the next world - god seems to richly reward them in this world itself.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate this. Preaching: a noble profession, right? Usually associated with charity, moral guidance, and the occasional heartfelt sermon. But it turns out that, in some cases, it’s also a very lucrative calling. Who knew that guiding people toward righteousness could simultaneously guide you toward a Jaguar dealership?

Because if preachers can drive luxury cars like Jaguars, maybe we’ve all been underestimating the economics of saving souls. Charity workers, activists, and ordinary mortals — all those poor saps who’ve been doing good deeds without heated leather seats — have been doing it all wrong. Turns out, divine dividends need not just offer psychological and metaphysical rewards; they can offer physical and material rewards, too.

And let’s be honest. It’s not just about money. There’s the prestige. The aura of authority. The undeniable statement made when a preacher steps out of a car that costs more than some people make in a lifetime: “I may save souls, but I also drive really, really well.”

So, what have we learned from this weekend’s events? Zamri Vinoth may or may not have run over a pair of motorcyclists. Police investigations are ongoing. Rocks were thrown, windows were broken, and questions remain unanswered. But perhaps the most important lesson is this: preaching is not just a spiritual calling — it can be a high-speed, high-status, luxury-driving career choice.

The next time your kids or students ask you what they should do in life, don't forget to tell them that they should think about preaching the word of god to the masses too - for all you know, it might offer them more gains to them then a career as a professional. After all, a job like an accountant or a software engineer might be taken over by a Artificial Intelligence, but so far no one has claimed that saving souls is a job that AI will eliminate.

In conclusion, the moral of the story is clear. If you’ve been hesitating about your life choices, maybe it’s time to consider preaching. Because saving souls might not only earn you eternal rewards — it could also come with surprisingly lucrative dividends in this world. Heated leather seats included.
