According to XUAN解忧树洞, a woman has been left questioning her marriage after discovering that her domestic helper is pregnant — and she fears her husband may be the father.
The helper, 32, has been working for the family for two years. According to the woman, the helper rarely takes days off and has little social life outside the home. She had reportedly told her employer that she wanted to work as much as possible to earn money and did not have many friends locally.
That was why the pregnancy came as a huge shock.
The woman only discovered the truth when she accompanied the helper for a medical check-up. After the doctor told her that the helper was pregnant, she confronted her.
The helper immediately broke down in tears.
“Madam, I really don’t know…”
That was all she kept repeating.
She also begged the woman not to send her away.
The woman said she could not bring herself to question her further.
Not because she did not want to know the truth, but because she was terrified of hearing the name she had already begun to suspect.
On the way home, neither of them said a word.
Instead, memories she had previously dismissed suddenly began replaying in her mind.
One incident in particular stood out.
Late one night at around 2am, she had gone downstairs to get some water and noticed that the kitchen light was on. Her husband and the helper were both there.
Both appeared startled when they saw her.
Her husband quickly explained that the helper had been hungry, so he had gone downstairs to cook her some noodles.
At the time, the woman had thought nothing of it.
In fact, she had even felt lucky to have such a considerate husband.
Looking back now, however, the memory feels completely different.
She had always believed that if a man wanted to cheat, he would never be foolish enough to have an affair with the family's domestic helper.
It seemed too absurd.
Too messy.
Too much like something that could only happen in a television drama.
But one week after discovering the pregnancy, the woman remains unable to shake the suspicion.
She has imagined confronting her husband countless times.
“Is the baby yours?”
Yet when the moment comes, she cannot bring herself to ask.
If the answer is yes, everything she knows about her marriage could collapse in an instant.
But if she never asks, she may spend the rest of her life wondering.
Caught between suspicion and fear, the woman is now left asking the question she never thought she would have to face:
