
As many as 11,389 persons, including 4,250 women, cast their vote in the urban local bodies elections held in Shimla district on Sunday; the total voter’s turnout was 77.36 per cent (male voter turnout 77.31 per cent and female voter turnout 77.41 per cent). In Shimla district, the elections were held to elect representatives of the Rampur and Theog Municipal Councils. Elections to six Nagar Panchayats of Sunni, Chopal, Kotkhai, Jubbal and several wards of Nerwa and Chirgaon were also held.
In Theog, the total voter turnout was 80.85 per cent as 1,890 voters, including 742 women, cast their vote. Similarly, In Rampur, the total voter turnout was 69.48 per cent, as 4,060 voters, including 1,350 women, cast their vote. Rampur recorded the lowest voter turnout of all urban local bodies in the district. The highest voter percentage of 89.08 was recorded in Nerwa.
