The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), will issue notices to owners of vacant plots found without boundary walls and littered with garbage.

The MCYJ will clean such vacant plots, and the cost of the cleaning drive will be borne by the plot owners. Teams of the MCYJ will soon begin a survey of these plots, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad said.

“The municipal corporation is starting a survey of vacant plots. For this purpose, teams have been formed under the leadership of Chief Sanitation Inspectors Harjeet Singh and Vinod Beniwal. If the corporation teams find plots without boundary walls and filled with garbage, action will be taken against the owners by issuing notices under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act,” said Mahabir Parsad.

According to officials, a large number of vacant plots are located in various colonies across all 22 wards of the MCYJ. Due to the absence of boundary walls, many people dump garbage in these plots, leading to the accumulation of waste and causing inconvenience to nearby residents. In addition, the lack of regular cleaning results in overgrown bushes and waterlogging, creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“In light of these problems, the municipal corporation has decided to issue notices to owners of vacant plots that lack boundary walls and are filled with garbage. Along with the notices, the owners will be directed to clean and fence their plots. If they fail to do so, the municipal corporation will undertake the cleaning work, and the expenses incurred will be recovered from the plot owners,” the Municipal Commissioner said.

He urged all owners of vacant plots to get their plots fenced to prevent people from dumping garbage there.

He also instructed officials to issue notices to such plot owners under Section 309 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act.
