MANILA, Philippines — Andrei Caracut led Rain or Shine’s charged-up offense from the get-go, leading to the Elasto Painters’ lopsided 151-95 demolition of Blackwater Bossing to stay unbeaten in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Caracut fired 18 of his team-high 22 points on a near perfect 7-of-8 shooting to lead ROS to a massive 42-15 lead in the opening quarter.
The Elasto Painters never looked back from there, padding their lead to as high as 58 points, while giving coach Yeng Guiao more time to let his younger players play for most of the second half.
ROS improved to 4-0 to stay unbeaten this conference.
Blackwater dropped to 1-3.
Rain or Shine, which claimed the scalp of Meralco last week despite playing without suspended import Jaylen Johnson, reached the century mark just before the end of the third.
But Guiao’s charges kept pressing on, en route to surpassing the 150-point mark, on the way to winning by 56 points.
As per PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, ROS has established the all-time record for the biggest winning margin in league history.
Johnson finished with 31 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four blocks in 31 minutes of action.
Gian Mamuyac and rookie Vicent Cuajao chipped in 15 each, while four other ROS players scored 12 or more, showcasing the team’s depth and firepower.
Burly import Robert Upshaw led Blackwater with 24 points and nine rebounds, while RK Ilagan and Sedrick Barefield had 14 and 12, respectively.
