MANILA, Philippines — CJ Perez served as San Miguel Beer’s spark plug in a decisive third quarter attack as the Beermen rolled past the Macau Black Knights, 110-94 to get back on the winning track in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Perez tossed in a game-high 26 points, including 14 in the third canto that saw SMB pull away and erect its biggest lead at 25 points.
The Black Knights managed to mount a rally and closed in at 10 points, but the Beermen’s depth and experience just proved too much to handle.
San Miguel improved to an even 2-2 record, bouncing back from a 118-92 beatdown at the hands of defending champion TNT last weekend.
New import Justin Patton delivered a solid outing in his SMB debut, finishing with 24 points and 17 rebounds, while providing the inside presence for the powerhouse squad.
June Mar Fajardo chipped in 16 points, 16 rebounds and six assists, while Marcio Lassiter and Don Trollano added 12 and 10, respectively.
Macau, which sank to 0-5, drew 23 points and 10 rebounds form Tony Mitchell, while Damian Chonqui added 19, five and seven assists.
