MANILA, Philippines — Palace Press Officer Claire Castro reacted to the Duterte camp’s criticisms that the ruling on the impeachment threshold violated the Constitution.
In a statement on Saturday, Castro said the Senate has its own mandate, and among its jurisdiction is conducting the impeachment trial.
“This will be the real scenario...our Constitution will be rendered futile if the Filipino people begin to defend acts of corruption of their nefarious political idols, or if they normalize the unlawful execution of innocent people under the guise of ‘dispensing justice,’” Castro explained.
