MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang denied that the Philippines used its position as host of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit to hinder the participation of China.
This comes after Beijing accused Manila of “erecting multiple obstacles” to its participation in the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting in Cebu last week.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro maintained that the Philippines would continue to take a diplomatic approach in dealing with China.
“No power or position will be used to gain an advantage over anyone,” said Castro in Filipino.
