A truck laden with clothes imported from abroad caught fire after coming into contact with a high-tension wire on Kutani Road in the Noorwala area of the city on Wednesday afternoon. As many as 10 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames.

As per the available information, a truck laden with waste material imported from abroad had reached Panipat and was headed to a godown on Kutani Road in the Noorwala area. According to the information available, a total of 27,000 kg of waste cloth was loaded in the truck. The owner of the truck is Sagar Bansal. Ashok of Samalkha was driving the vehicle.

It is suspected that when the truck reached Kutani Road, the waste cloth loaded in the overloaded vehicle came into contact with high-tension electric wires passing overhead and caught fire. The blaze was so intense that one of the truck’s tyres exploded. Both the waste cloth and the truck were engulfed in flames.

Following the information, around 10 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames. However, the fire was extremely intense.

As the blaze continued to rage, special foam tenders were also called to the spot. The fire department eventually brought the flames under control.
