
Kota Kinabalu: Team Paparian emerged champion at the Sandakan District Hockey Association (SDHA) President Cup tournament held at Likas Hockey Stadium recently.
They clinched the title by finishing top among the eight participating teams in the single round league competition.
They accumulated a total of 18 points from six wins and one loss while Sabah Malaysia Sports School came in second with 15 points followed by KKrian in third with 12 points.
The fourth to eighth places went to PHDS Senior, PHDS Junior, Tomahawk, Li.S.S1 and Black Eagle respectively.
SHDA president Alsharo Alih Mijal who presented the prizes to the winners said the objective of the tournament is to help unearth junior players to be included in their respective districts’ team in preparation for the Sabah Games next year.
Meanwhile, also present at the closing ceremony was the district’s vice president Emran bin Sumanggil.
