KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) remains confident of playing an important role in strengthening Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said its Information Chief, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
He said Joniston although the coalition is facing challenges following the withdrawal of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) and Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP), PBS’ commitment to remain with GRS is unaffected.
“PBS has endured far greater political challenges in the past. This is democracy, but stability and unity must never be compromised, and PBS will continue to play a vital role,” he said at a ‘Meet the People Programme’ in Kampung Rungus Panansawa, here.
Joniston, who is also GRS Information Chief and the incumbent Kiulu Assemblyman, highlighted that PBS’s strength within GRS stems from its consistent leadership and extensive experience in navigating the ever-changing political landscape.
“We have gone through many phases of change, but our principle remains the same, to serve with dedication and to prioritise the people.
“PBS has always been a contributor within GRS, ensuring the coalition meets the expectations of the people of Sabah,” he added, noting that the party continues to play an important role in maintaining GRS’s unity, credibility, and realistic, people-centred policies.
PBS is one of six component parties within GRS, alongside Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), United Sabah National Organisation (USNO), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), and Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).
Star and SAPP ceased to be members of the coalition after announcing their decision to contest independently in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17).
Joniston also visited Kampung Balabakan to officiate the launch of a new agricultural route in the village.
He said the agricultural sector remains one of the key focuses of Kiulu’s continuous development plan, particularly in enhancing infrastructure and improving the living standards of local residents.
