PAS has denied rumours that the party will go solo in the 16th General Election (GE16), insisting that it will give its full commitment to strengthening its relationship with its Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition partners.

Terengganu Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the party's top leadership has stated a clear stance that the priority at this time is to strengthen the relationship between PN coalition partners.

"At this time, there is no question of PAS going solo because we have always given our commitment. The party's top leadership has also made a statement that one of the biggest things they want to do now is to strengthen PN.

"So, we are aware of the current political reality of the country and will continue to strengthen PN," he said.

Commenting on the leadership conflict in PN, Ahmad Samsuri, who is also the Vice President of PAS, said that the matter is expected to be resolved through the PN Supreme Council Meeting to be held later.

"God willing, when the PN Supreme Council Meeting is held, this matter (relationship conflict) can be resolved. However, I am not sure when the meeting will take place," he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about rumours of the appointment of individuals including himself as PN Chairman, Ahmad Samsuri said he did not have any information on the matter.

"I do not know because I am no longer a member of the meeting. Later, when the time and place come, we will see what the decision is," he explained.

Previously, the media reported that PN coalition leaders held a meeting at the residence of Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to replace a special meeting of the PN Supreme Council that was cancelled at the last minute by PN Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

However, no PAS representatives including its President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang were present at the meeting.

Instead, PAS held a three-day party retreat starting last Friday, believed to have also discussed the direction of cooperation with PN component partners as well as preparations for the State Election (PRN) and GE16. – February 4, 2026
