Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has received approval from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for amendments to its party constitution, paving the way for new initiatives to strengthen the party’s organisation and develop its next generation of leaders.
PBS Secretary General Datuk Julita Majungki said one of the new provisions allows all PBS divisions to establish the Gerakan Belia dan Beliawanis (GBB), providing a structured platform for young people aged 18 to 25 to participate in healthy, constructive and responsible political activities.
She said the establishment of GBB should be viewed not merely as an organisational expansion, but as an investment in the future of PBS. “This gives our young people the opportunity to learn, contribute their ideas, gain experience and understand the party’s struggles and principles from the grassroots level. We want our young members to understand the DNA of PBS, appreciate the history of our struggle and develop the integrity, courage and sense of responsibility needed to become future leaders,” she said.

She said the implementation mechanism for GBB would be further refined by the new Supreme Council leadership to be elected by delegates at the conference.
She said the initiative was timely as PBS enters a phase of leadership renewal, with greater emphasis on creating opportunities for younger leaders to develop their capabilities and eventually take on greater responsibilities within the party.
“The future of PBS depends not only on preserving the legacy that has been built over more than four decades, but also on our ability to prepare a new generation to carry that legacy forward. We must give them the space to participate, to learn and to lead, while ensuring that the core principles and values of PBS remain firmly rooted,” she said.
Julita said the constitutional amendments reflected PBS’s continued efforts to strengthen its organisation while responding to the changing political and social landscape.
She added that the new GBB platform would allow PBS to engage young people more systematically and encourage their participation in politics through constructive and meaningful activities.
