TAMPARULI: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has urged authorities to give fair, prudent, and comprehensive consideration to the proposed concert by American gospel singer Israel Houghton in Kota Kinabalu.
PBS information chief Bonaventure Boniface (pic) said the party acknowledges the various viewpoints raised and respects the concerns voiced by all quarters, including authorities' views regarding security aspects and current sensitivities.
He noted that if the programme is purely a Christian musical and praise event, the true nature of the concert should be taken into account when making any decision.
Boniface clarified that an artiste's personal name should not automatically form the basis of assumptions regarding an event's purpose, pointing out that "Israel" is merely the singer's given name.
Emphasising Sabah’s long-standing interfaith and intercultural harmony, PBS left the matter of approvals, security, and public order to the relevant authorities, expressing hope that fair consideration will be granted if all conditions and security concerns are properly satisfied.
