The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRPM) opened up an investigation after a video of foreigners waving Chinese flags outside Teluk Intan’s Leaning Tower went viral.
The incident has since sparked considerable public attention, and now PDRM is opening yet another probe, this time into foreign flag-waving during an international cultural event that was held in Sentosa.
The participants came from 10 different countries
According to the statement on Facebook, Chief of Police Johor Bahru Selatan Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat revealed that they received a viral video circulating on social media yesterday.
The video shows a group of people waving a foreign flag during an international religious parade that had participants from 10 different countries, organised by a cultural association in Sentosa, Johor Bahru.
PDRM will reach out to the event organisers
The Johor Bahru Selatan IPD confirmed that on October 28, 2024, around 3:00 PM, they received a report about a foreign flag being displayed during the religious parade organised by the mentioned association.
They’ve kicked off an investigation under Section 3(1) of the National Emblem Act 1949, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The police will be reaching out to the event organisers and relevant witnesses to help with the ongoing investigation.
