NIBONG TEBAL: The Penang state government will assess the feasibility of implementing work-from-home (WFH) arrangements for civil servants at the upcoming State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the review follows the federal government’s recent announcement of WFH guidelines, as well as the Special Meeting of Chief Ministers and Menteri Besars chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, which focused on addressing the impact of the global energy crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia.
Chow, who attended the meeting with the Penang state secretary, noted that the current WFH initiative applies only to agencies under federal administration.
“On Wednesday, we will review the matter to assess its suitability for implementation at the state level.
“If approved, the state government may introduce additional guidelines and identify the departments that would participate,” he told reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Byram Large-Scale Solar Farm Project 5 here today.
