Kota Kinabalu: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Government’s main focus remains on solving everyday problems faced by the people, including floods, dilapidated schools, damaged homes, poor roads, and electricity and water shortages.
He told a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) gathering in Inanam that such issues must not be politicised or used as election slogans, as they concern basic needs and dignity.
Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, said the Government had reduced fuel prices as part of its commitment, stressing that Sabah and Sarawak were given priority due to their position in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
He said unity among all communities was vital, warning against racial and religious campaigning which could divide Sabahans and weaken the country’s image abroad.
The Prime Minister also highlighted steps to curb corruption, insisting that those found guilty of stealing public funds must face punishment and repay what was taken.
On development, Anwar said Sabah was receiving the largest federal allocation in history, alongside increased aid such as RM15 billion in Rahmah Cash Aid and higher civil service salaries.
He thanked the people of Sabah for their decades of support, adding that power should be used to serve the people and ensure children had better opportunities in the future.
