IPOH - The Perak State Mosque, in collaboration with the State Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), will organise the Majlis Nikah Jamaie' Syarie (Mass Syariah-Compliant Marriage Solemnisation Ceremony) for the eighth time this year, with 30 couples expected to participate.

State Mosque Chief Imam Abd Farid Salleh said the ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque on Jalan Sultan Iskandar on Dec 26.

He said the programme aims to ease the financial burden of wedding expenses for low-income couples while promoting the concept of Syariah-compliant marriages.

Since its introduction in 2013, a total of 137 couples have taken part in the initiative.

"The Majlis Nikah Jamaie' Syarie not only simplifies the marriage process but also promotes a culture of Syariah-compliant marriages that emphasises blessings, moderation and family building.

"The uniqueness of the Majlis Nikah Jamaie' Syarie lies not only in bringing couples together for a mass solemnisation ceremony but also in upholding the principles of a Syariah-compliant wedding, where every aspect of the event, from the attire, venue and catering to the solemnisation ceremony and wedding reception, is conducted in accordance with Islamic principles," he told a press conference here today.

Abd Farid said couples interested in participating are required to pay a participation fee of RM4,000, with registration closing on Aug 31.

He said the package includes a ceremonial meal (santapan beradab) for the bride and groom, a wedding banquet for guests, a wedding dais (pelamin), traditional bunga pahar decorations, as well as a one-night hotel stay with dinner. - BERNAMA
