IPOH - All schools in Perak will operate as usual tomorrow (Friday, Oct 16), but parents may choose to keep their children at home if they are concerned about their health amid the current haze.

In a statement today, the Perak State Education Department (JPN) said parents or guardians must inform the school if their children will be absent.

Students who attend school are also encouraged to wear face masks as a precaution, the department said.

"JPN Perak always prioritises the safety, health and well-being of students and school staff. All parties are urged to remain alert to developments and follow the authorities’ advice regarding the haze,” it added.

As of this afternoon, several areas in Perak recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the unhealthy range, including Tanjong Malim (174), Seri Manjung (172), Pegoh (153) and Tasek (151). - BERNAMA
