Perlis Speaker Rus’sele Eizan applies to strike out a suit by three former PAS reps over declared seat vacancies, with court deadlines set for March and April.

KANGAR: Perlis State Assembly Speaker Rus’sele Eizan has filed an application to strike out an originating summons brought against him by three former state assemblymen.

The application was filed on Monday, according to his lawyer Wan Rohimi Wan Daud.

During a case management session, the Kangar High Court set a March 25 deadline for the plaintiffs to file their reply to Rus’sele’s affidavit.

The court also fixed April 15 for the defendant’s further reply and scheduled a proceeding for April 16 to set a hearing date.

The three former assemblymen—Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong) and Saad Seman (Chuping)—filed the suit on Jan 2.

They are challenging Rus’sele’s declaration of casual vacancies in the seats they formerly represented.

The speaker announced the vacancies on Dec 25 last year, stating the three PAS members’ seats were vacated immediately.

This decision followed a statement by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang a day earlier.

Hadi Awang informed that the memberships had ceased pursuant to the PAS Constitution.
