SEMPORNA: A total of 850 litres of petrol worth RM3,714.50 were seized in two separate cases off here on Friday.
The Semporna Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said both cases were handed over to it by the Marine Police Force.
The first case involved 300 litres of petrol in 12 gallons in a wooden boat without a registration number and engine in waters off Kampung Halo.
During inspection, the individual believed involved in the case fled into a mangrove area, leaving behind the boat and items.
The second case involved 550 litres of petrol in 22 gallons in a wooden boat without a registration number and engine at a mangrove area in Kampung Tobok Tobok.
It is believed that the individual involved had fled into the mangrove area, leaving behind the boat and items.
Following the handover, Semporna KPDN said it has opened two investigation papers under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
