KENINGAU: The General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 21 here seized items worth more than RM36 million since the start of the year through a series of continuous enforcement operations, recording 60 cases and detaining 82 suspects.
“After nearly two years based in Keningau, Battalion 21, which comes under the Sabah Brigade and the Internal Security and Public Order Department, has recorded various success through the operations and seizures carried out.
For this year alone, from the beginning of the year until September, the total value of seizures has reached RM36 million involving various offences,” said Keningau GOF Battalion 21 Commanding Officer, Supt Hairulnizam Rashid.
Of the 82 suspects detained, 75 were men and seven were women, he said to reporters after officiating the Keningau GOF Battalion 21 Commanding Officer’s Cup Football Championship 2026 here on Friday.
He said the operations were carried out in line with instructions from the Department’s Director at Bukit Aman, to intensify enforcement and curb various illegal activities across the country.
The success were driven by sustained intelligence work, patrols and enforcement operations, he said, with suspects and seized items handed over to the relevant agencies for further investigation and action.
He said the GOF will continue to step up its operations from time to time to safeguard security and public order throughout its area of responsibility.
He said efforts to curb smuggling and cross-border crime would also be strengthened to prevent any activity that could threaten public security and order.
He reminded all officers and personnel never to be negligent or complacent in carrying out their duties, and to maintain discipline and a high level of readiness at all times.
He said the demands of their role as security personnel required them to remain alert, efficient and prepared for any eventuality, adding that sporting activities served as a platform to build physical and mental fitness as well as team spirit.
The Pasukan Cawangan Pengangkutan emerged champions in the tournament’s final, with Company A finishing second and Company C third.
