PEZA, training center partner to upskill ecozone workforce

THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and vocational school Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen the skills of workers in PEZA-registered enterprises across its economic zones.

PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and Dualtech President Jerry Webb Muji signed the agreement on July 13, witnessed by PEZA Deputy Director General Emmanuel Cordero and Dualtech External Affairs Group Manager Leonard Calma.

Dualtech, which operates in Carmelray Industrial Park I, Canlubang, Laguna, is one of the country’s pioneering technical-vocational training institutions.

Its partnership with PEZA establishes an industry-academe framework built around the school’s dual-training model combining classroom learning with industry immersion.

Under the agreement, Dualtech will provide customized technical training, micro-credential programs, competency-based assessments, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda)-recognized certifications tailored to the needs of PEZA ecozone locators.

PEZA, in turn, will identify priority skills, coordinate implementation across economic zones, and facilitate participation among registered enterprises.

The collaboration will also include industry consultations, skills mapping, workforce planning, learning forums, and career development initiatives to build competencies for strategic sectors such as high-value manufacturing, electronics, IT and logistics.

PEZA said the partnership supports the goals of the 2025 Asean+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) assessment, which linked the Philippines’ long-term growth to productivity gains and workforce upskilling.

“Our greatest competitive advantage has always been the Filipino talent. This partnership with Dualtech ensures that our workforce continuously develops the technical skills and industry competencies that investors need today and in the future,” said Panga.
